European market balance holding up for another week.

Europe Trend Week 43

As regards the supply, incoming shipments from Ecuador to the EC market are still on the wane, because of exports being focused on other markets.

However, Colombian and Costa Rican volumes remain at peak production, with high levels (4% and 10% above average, respectively).

In addition, the African supply is back to above-average levels (+9%). The structural growth from Ghana and the seasonal increase in Ivorian shipments are readily offsetting the Cameroonian shortfall.

Meanwhile, despite the ongoing school holidays across Europe, demand seems sufficient to absorb incoming volumes. Stock levels are decent, and prices stable. On the Spanish platano market, the situation remains under tension because of the shortage of fruit.

In Russia speculation is ongoing, while prices are continuing to increase.
