EUROPE - Banana survey 35

All of the North European markets have maintained a good balance. On the one hand, despite Colombian imports starting to rise, the overall dollar banana supply has remained very moderate due to the low Ecuadorian and Costa Rican volumes. On the other hand, thanks to the new school year, demand in most North European countries has maintained a good level. Hence rates have continued to strengthen in the United Kingdom and Germany, and have been stable to slightly stronger in France.

Conversely, in Eastern Europe the new school year has slowed demand.  These markets have weakened.
A small burst was seen in Italy, where some signs of improvement in demand could be felt with the summer holidays drawing to a close. Hence the bottom end of the price range has started to rise.

The Russian market has remained stable and balanced.
